    1. Well, I hear the D6 will be recording in full motion picture, 70mm wide screen format with Dolby XXX sound… at 120 fps.

  1. More magapixels might not be better. If you think you need more than 36 MP, you should SERIOUSLY be looking at the Leica S series. If you think this comment is bogus, you should be reading about pixel size and optics.diffraction/etc.

    1. I shoot Birds in Flight and I’d appreciate having a DX 24 MP body capable of shooting 8-10 fps. If I have to go 54mp FX to get there then I’m happy with that because I also shoot landscapes too. I can convert my D300 to IR and use my D800 as back up 🙂

      1. Birds in flight and landscapes are two different devices for me. Landscape is fine detail and wide DR. The last time I shot birds in flight, I used my Benelli semiauto 12ga with #8 birdshot.

    2. When sensor were 6 MPixels and arrived new 8 MPixels sensors people like you complained that 8 Mpixels were too much – lol

      1. i had my first camera it was the Nikon coolpix 2000 2megapixel plenty for printing a3 i never print bigger than a4 so my d810 is over kill im using zaiss 85 55 100 and 135mm

    3. new technology is developing, better multi layer photodiodes, seamless micro lens, and so on

in the future the digital sensor making can go quantum level, resolution can go billions, and your image quality can benefit from it

if you think this comment is bogus, you should check the publish date before reading your research papers

      1. Let’s hope that’s not too soon. I don’t think there’s any computer on the consumer market that could handle the 2 terabyte raw files.

    4. More magapixels would be interesting. However, I don’t need or entertain any thoughts of needing more megapixels.

    5. D850 it is for Télé photo Killer you don need 1000mm with crop y use my D800E to crop only and if change for D 850 its for better ZooM
      Video i by video cam.

  2. If there is any truth to this, I suspect Sony will be releasing a similar camera in 2016; maybe the A7R III or A8R or A9 or whatever with all sorts of bells and whistles Nikon only wished they had thought of…

    1. Yes. It will have sound effects assigned to the different functions. When you press the shutter button, a train whistle will go off. It will have an elevation guide to tell you how high above the ground you’re holding it. And whenever you turn the camera on it will play a recording which says, “Oh, (your name), you’re the greatest!”
