Without questioning the quality surement excellent of this new Carl Zeiss (especially at the level of the price), this video is a little bit conceited and one delight especially to see real tests!!! Because to compare with examples of one 50mm “conventional” leaves me dreamer! What 50mm??? However the 50mm of the current market they are models 1.8 or 1.4 give results so bad, 18-55 starting prices they are downright fuzzy!:-)… But it 55mm / 1.4 Carl Zeiss remains promising set apart his price a little too high for one 55mm…
the best 55m lens that is… All the same, stunning results…
The photo comparison with the ‘conventional’ 50mm lens is complete BS. If someone feels the need to skew the data this bad it may be because the Zeiss 55 won’t live up to the hype or cost. As well, we don’t see any exif data on the shots. Marketing hype and bs again.
Most of the small test images for the web look interesting, but not more then that. It’s hard (if not impossible) to judge the image quality of the new Zeiss lens by looking at these small samples. I think the comparison wit a conventional fast 50mm lens is not that crazy. Most fast 50’s look that horrible in the corners. The Zeiss 55mm f/1.4 does look promising, but I look forward to some real tests. And then there’s the money thing. 3000 euros? Are they serious?
well, look at full size samples at FlickR, these are very good IMHO.
450$ for the Nikon 50mm f1.4G, 4000$ for this lens… I’ve been accused of having champagne tastes before, but even I wouldn’t touch this. Way to high a price for better “corner quality”. It does say “Zeiss” on it though…
3k euros is not bad for this kind of quality,a Noctilux or cron APO is a lot more expensive, the only real caveat here is weight ,it’s a monster..
Other than the fact that Carl Zeiss has about always delivered. It is legendary lens maker. I still drool over its lenses from past. . . 40-60 years ago.
