I would not be so exited about this lens , unfortunately after comparison with sigma art af 35mm f/1.4 dg hsm (that cost around 700euro new on ebay ) you can see very cleary that sigma produce still sharper images despite is 2,5 times cheaper . Canon always overprice own product . They have only a few outstandingly better lenses than the direct competitors but always having higher prices though . What is more you should wait for complete test of this lens and see it’s work against direct light , because this is a weak part of most Canon lenses .
I have the Sigma and I think these look vastly superior. The bokeh here is as smooth and beautiful as I have ever seen it.
Do you even shoot, bro? Or actually own both Canon and Sigma lenses? I’ve owned and professionally shot with the 35L 1.4 I, the 35 f/2 IS, and the Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/1.4. The Sigma Art were cheap and sharp, but out of focus images are softer than in focus ones. The 35mm f/2 IS actually outperformed the other two in focus accuracy and real world sharpness at f/2.
Measurebator.
I also have the sigma. The bokeh seem to be smoother on the new Canon. I saw some samples where the sharpness was comparable to Sigma. On one sample image I found it to be soft. So need to wait till the comparisons are done. Either way the price is too much. Sigma is good I love it. I love the contrast of it. The colors are deep. Here I dont see that on the Canon 35mm II samples. Now the only thing I dont like about the Sigma is that I cannot trust the autofocus 100% like I do on the Canon 70-200 IS II. So lets see how the focus accuracy is on this lens
If it wasn’t for Sigma, this would be a $2200 lens. I think Sigma will lower the price of their lens and that should put some pressure on the Canon price as well, but that’s if these aren’t selling as fast as they can make them. That lens seems to render well, like Zeiss Otus well.
