Rumors: Canon EOS 3D & 1D X Replacement in Testing

Canon EOS 1D Xs

According to NL, Canon is currently testing a new full frame DSLR camera. This new camera could be rumroed Canon EOS 3D or Canon EOS 1D X replacement.

Someone from Canon apparently visited a few New York city studios with a “test” camera which is looks like a 1D X body. Images from this test camera had to be processed and viewed on a particular laptop and none of the images could be copied or kept.

The size of sample images are very similar to Canon EOS 5D Mark III’s 22MP sensor, but image quality and color accuracy are much better. And according to the source, this camera will be announced in late 2014 to early 2015.

  1. if Canon was taking the camera to NYC for different photographers to test in their studios, that’s one thing…but there is no way Canon had to go to “a few studios in NYC” to test their camera themselves. Canon has some of the best studio facilities on the planet, even close by on Long Island. They don’t need to test in third party studios. Typically, if the former, they’d have the photographers meet at one location, either in NYC or at Canon HQ on Long Island…so I can B.S. on this…at least as the details are rumored.
