Nikon has made the compact Z5 official. The Z5IIC is a flat-top, full-frame Z body at $1,399.95 body-only, or $1,699.95 with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3. You can pre-order at B&H Photo Video. Nikon USA says it ships in mid-October 2026. Retailers will also offer soft bundles with the 26mm f/2.8 pancake and the 40mm f/2.
The “C” is the point. Nikon says it stands for casual, and the camera omits a viewfinder so the top stays flat. Against the Z5II (134 × 100.5 × 72 mm, about 700 g with battery), this body is 134 × 80.5 × 72 mm and 620 g with battery and card (538 g body only). Same 24.5MP BSI sensor and EXPEED 7. Shorter by the hump.
What is actually new
Scene modes on the mode dial are a first for a Nikon full-frame mirrorless: 15 of them, from portrait, pet, and food through night landscape and twilight. A dedicated button recalls Imaging Recipes from Nikon Imaging Cloud. Subject detection covers 10 types; Fish is new, and only works when Fish is the selected subject. AUTO still picks aperture, shutter, and ISO.
IBIS is the Z5II number: up to 7.5 stops at the center, 6.0 at the edges (CIPA 2024, NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S, telephoto, NORMAL). Still shooting is about 14 fps in extended high-speed, 15 fps with silent mode on, and up to 30 fps in High-Speed Frame Capture+, with Pre-Release Capture of up to one second — JPEG Large/Normal only.

Video is 4K UHD/60p with a DX crop, Full HD/120p, 4× and 5× slow motion, H.265 10-bit, N-Log, N-RAW to an SD card (V90 recommended), Product Review Mode, a REC lamp, and USB webcam (UVC/UAC). Black or silver; the silver body in Nikon’s product photo is a silver top plate. Dust- and drip-resistant, magnesium in key areas. The spec sheet lists UHS-II SD and does not list a second card slot.
The Sept. 19 leak had the date, the missing finder, Fish AF, and the silver top. Price and the mid-October ship date are the new facts.
